New Additions

The auburn one is a  “Production Red” and she is the sweetest of the three. She is so friendly! She comes right up to us as if saying “Hi! How are you today?” You girls will love her! She and the black one love to be picked up, held and talked to.

Here is the other friendly one. She is a Black Sex Link. My friend Julie and her husband bought a bunch of day old chicks a few months ago and are selling some and keeping some. As you know, we haven’t had much luck with the last couple of batches of hatched chicks.  They all turned out to be roosters and created havoc in the hen house!

This one is VERY skittish and shy. She is a Golden Penedesenca. I am hoping that she learns to relax a bit. All three of them will lay beautiful and delicious brown eggs.

Here they are “free ranging” inside the run while the big girls were outside. We are keeping them separate till they get a little bigger. Chickens tend to be a little mean when new flock members are added to an existing flock. I am sure you have heard of the pecking order! So a slow introduction and adjustment period is advised.

I cover them up with a blanket at night to keep them warm and feeling safe till they graduate to the chicken coop with big girls. ❤️🐓🐣
