Garlic, Sunflowers, and More Blueberries!

Once again, we are having a fairly mild summer in Graton, CA. Everything is planted and is being tenderly cared for by Grandma and Grandpa. Remember all those cloves of garlic I planted last fall? Well, half of them were ready to harvest a few weeks ago. I pulled them out and set them out to dry. After sharing a few cloves with a friend, I decided to braid the rest. Too much fun! Now we can snip off a head when the need arises.

Do you love sunflowers? They just are such a happy flower! Here’s a peek at a few we planted in the orchard.

The blueberry bushes are very bountiful this year. The blue jays have decided to let us enjoy more of the berries. We have harvested a few cups and shared them with friends, made blueberry muffins and tomorrow I am making blueberry pancakes for breakfast. Have you tasted yummy summer blueberries lately?
